Question What exactly does “Cradlerock” mean?

Answer Many of our clients are surprised to learn that Cradlerock is a real place – a unique rock formation located just north of Princeton, NJ. The centerpiece of a large boulder field, Cradlerock is not only shaped like a baby’s cradle, but also rocks back and forth like one! Well known to climbing enthusiasts around the country, Cradlerock was also the childhood playground of Cradlerock founder Warren Elmer, and the site of our first staff meeting in 1984.

Why name a company “Cradlerock”? For Warren, the giant boulder was a reminder of learning and growth. Others were reminded of the old proverb: “What I hear I forget, what I see I remember, what I do…I understand.” First time visitors to Cradlerock rarely believe it will actually pivot until they try it for themselves – the perfect symbol for a company grounded in experiential learning! Over time however, Cradlerock has taken on yet another meaning. As we work with individuals and organizations facing challenges unheard of a generation ago, Cradlerock offers a tangible and enduring reminder that sometimes a small push really CAN move a mountain!

Question How do you structure your learning programs?

Answer Cradlerock programs combine structured experience, classroom presentation, and facilitated dialogue in a uniquely effective format. Hands-on exercises and simulations bring organizational issues to life, offering powerful learning moments which engage participants at every sensory and cognitive level. Classroom presentation helps ground experience in a shared theoretical framework and common vocabulary crucial to long term learning transfer. Facilitated discussion helps ensure that participants gain true ownership of the material and translates concepts into meaningful action steps that lead to lasting change. Together, the core elements of our workshops add up to unparalleled personal and organizational impact!
